Racetracks and Racing Opportunities near Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas

The Universal Technical Institute Dallas/Fort Worth campus is located northwest of Dallas in Irving. Dallas is the third-largest city in Texas, and the ninth-largest city in the United States. The city has a vibrant community of racing enthusiasts from around the country.

Since 2010, UTI Dallas/Fort Worth has offered training programs for students interested in the Automotive, Diesel and Welding industries.1 The student experience at UTI Dallas/Fort Worth is anything but ordinary, especially for those who love racing. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved both in and out of class!

If racing gets your blood flowing, check out these tracks and venues to keep you busy during your time away from class:

Dirt Tracks

Kennedale Speedway Park is about 35 miles southwest of UTI Dallas/Fort Worth. From February to November, this quarter-mile dirt oval hosts various types of racing, including midget cars, sprint cars, modified cars and more.

About 47 miles southeast of campus is RPM Speedway in Crandall. This classic dirt oval hosts everything from modified cars to factory stock cars, midget cars and more.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway is another dirt track option for UTI Dallas/Fort Worth students to watch the action. This D-shaped, half-mile track is located in Mesquite, about 40 miles east of campus.

Drag Racing

Yello Belly Drag Strip is less than 20 miles south of the UTI Dallas/Fort Worth campus. Known as “The Place to Race since 1955,” Yello Belly hosts street-legal drag races, funny cars and more on its quarter-mile track. For drag racing fans, Yello Belly is a great place to watch or even get some seat time under the Christmas tree when you’re not in school.

Other Racetracks

Texas Motor Speedway hosts NASCAR, Formula Drift, dirt track, drag racing and more. This classic track is located in Fort Worth and and is a must-see for all racing fans.

Lastly, about 10 miles southeast of UTI Dallas/Fort Worth is SpeedZone Dallas. If you’re into go-kart racing, this is the place to be. In addition to offering three types of go-karts, SpeedZone has simulated drag racing, an arcade and more. Experience racing without the significant expense of building and owning a race car!
