Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI) can help prepare you with the foundational skills for a career as a technician in motorcycle, ATV, side-by-side, snowmobile and personal watercraft mechanics.1 Complete one of two core programs then specialize with one or more electives. You’ll get hands-on training in our state-of-the-industry labs and work with technology found in the field.

Motorcycle Mechanic Training at MMI Phoenix

In MMI's 48-week Motorcycle Technician training program, you’ll have the opportunity to troubleshoot and diagnose engines, test performance and drivability and more. As a graduate, you earn a diploma and can choose to continue your training with additional manufacturer-specific electives.

MMI Phoenix awards associate of occupational studies (AOS) degrees to graduates of the following programs: Harley-Davidson and HonTech; Harley-Davidson and YamaPro®; and HonTech, K-Tech and YamaPro. All other grads receive diplomas.

MMI is just minutes from several arenas and stadiums that host professional sports, as well as motocross and Supercross events. The Phoenix area also offers endless entertainment and outdoor recreation options.

  • What is the classroom learning like?

    UTI follows a blended learning model, which includes a mix of online instructor-led training with hands-on application in the lab.18 This type of training is modeled after what’s used in the industry today and can provide more flexibility for students.

    UTI’s core programs follow this style, except for Welding, Collision Repair & Refinish Technology, and CNC Machining. These programs follow a hands-on learning model.

  • Are academic classes such as math, science or English required?

    While not separate classes, math and science aligned with the learning skills are incorporated into the course teachings, along with industry terminology that technicians need to succeed.

  • Are students required to have experience in order to attend?

    No, our curriculum does not require prior experience and is specifically designed to teach the skills necessary to pursue a career as a entry-level technician.

  • What credentials will I hold when I graduate?

    Graduates earn either a diploma or Associate in Occupational Studies (AOS) degree, depending on the program and campus, with the possibility of additional credentials.

  • Can students work while attending MMI?

    Yes, students can work and attend school if needed. Our Career Services team can help identify local job openings based on a student’s schedule.
