  • What is the classroom learning like?

UTI follows a blended learning model, which includes a mix of online instructor-led training with hands-on application in the lab.18 This type of training is modeled after what’s used in the industry today and can provide more flexibility for students.

UTI’s core programs follow this style, except for Welding, Collision Repair & Refinish Technology, and CNC Machining. These programs follow a hands-on learning model.

  • Are academic classes such as math, science or English required?

While not separate classes, math and science aligned with the learning skills are incorporated into the course teachings, along with industry terminology that technicians need to succeed.

  • Are students required to have experience in order to attend?

No, our curriculum does not require prior experience and is specifically designed to teach the skills necessary to pursue a career as a entry-level technician.

  • What credentials will I hold when I graduate?

Graduates earn either a diploma or Associate in Occupational Studies (AOS) degree, depending on the program and campus, with the possibility of additional credentials.

  • Can students work while attending UTI?

Yes, students can work and attend school if needed. Our Career Services team can help identify local job openings based on a student’s schedule.
