TRAIN AT UNIVERSAL TECHNICAL INSTITUTE IN SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA

At our Sacramento campus, our labs feature industry-specific equipment that gives students hands-on lab experience to prepare for careers in a variety of industries from automotive and diesel to welding and HVACR.* For students interested in the automotive or diesel field, this campus also features a Roush Yates Power & Performance lab, where students learn to tear down and rebuild engines.

Automotive Mechanic Training in Sacramento, CA

Engine service and repair, brake systems, power and performance — you’ll learn all of this and more in UTI’s 51-week Automotive Technology program.7 As a graduate from the Sacramento campus, you’ll earn an associate degree or certificate, depending on your chosen specialty. The skills you learn can prepare you to complete examinations to become ASE certified.

Diesel Mechanic Training in Sacramento, CA

In the 45-week Diesel Technology program, your courses can equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed as a diesel technician.1,7 Upon graduating from UTI Sacramento, you’ll earn a diploma or associate degree, depending on your chosen specialty. The 36-week Welding Technology program created with Lincoln Electric focuses on the four main arc welding types in the industry so graduates can be prepared to pursue careers as combination welders.

A graduate of UTI’s Automotive or Diesel programs accredited by the ASE Education Foundation can substitute his or her training for one year of work experience toward ASE’s two-year work requirement.

GET YOUR ASSOCIATE DEGREE

UTI Sacramento awards Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS) degrees to Automotive Technology II and Automotive/Diesel Technology II graduates. All other graduates receive diplomas.

  • What is the classroom learning like?

    UTI follows a blended learning model, which includes a mix of online instructor-led training with hands-on application in the lab.18 This type of training is modeled after what’s used in the industry today and can provide more flexibility for students.

    UTI’s core programs follow this style, except for Welding, Collision Repair & Refinish Technology, and CNC Machining. These programs follow a hands-on learning model.

  • Are academic classes such as math, science or English required?

    While not separate classes, math and science aligned with the learning skills are incorporated into the course teachings, along with industry terminology that technicians need to succeed.

  • Are students required to have experience in order to attend?

    No, our curriculum does not require prior experience and is specifically designed to teach the skills necessary to pursue a career as a entry-level technician.

  • What credentials will I hold when I graduate?

    Graduates earn either a diploma or Associate in Occupational Studies (AOS) degree, depending on the program and campus, with the possibility of additional credentials.

  • Can students work while attending UTI?

    Yes, students can work and attend school if needed. Our Career Services team can help identify local job openings based on a student’s schedule.
