Automotive Mechanic Training in Lisle, IL

If working on cars for a living sounds like an exciting career to you, consider enrolling in the Automotive Technology program at UTI Lisle, which is about 27 miles from downtown Chicago. In just 51 weeks, you’ll learn everything from simple engine systems to complex electronic systems and technology. As a graduate from the Lisle campus, you earn a diploma and are prepared to test to become ASE certified.

Diesel Mechanic Training in Lisle, IL

UTI Lisle also offers the 45-week Diesel Technology program, where you’ll learn how to diagnose, repair and replace like a true big-engine professional. Your coursework will cover a wide variety of topics, from engine service and repair to hydraulic and electronic systems.   • How long can you complete trade school?

    Trade school programs typically take around two years or less to complete. At UTI, most of our programs take less than a year:7

    • Automotive Technology: 51 weeks
    • Diesel Technology: 45 weeks
    • Welding Technology: 36 weeks
    • Industrial Maintenance: 30 weeks*
    • Robotics & Automation: 51 weeks*
    • Wind Turbine: 30 weeks*

  • Can students work while attending UTI?

    Yes, students can work and attend school if needed. Our Career Services team can help identify local job openings based on a student’s schedule.

  • Are students required to have experience in order to attend?

    No, our curriculum does not require prior experience and is specifically designed to teach the skills necessary to pursue a career as a entry-level technician.

  • What credentials will I hold when I graduate?

    Graduates earn either a diploma or Associate in Occupational Studies (AOS) degree, depending on the program and campus, with the possibility of additional credentials.

  • Are academic classes such as math, science or English required?

    While not separate classes, math and science aligned with the learning skills are incorporated into the course teachings, along with industry terminology that technicians need to succeed.

  • What is the classroom learning like?

    UTI follows a blended learning model, which includes a mix of online instructor-led training with hands-on application in the lab.18 This type of training is modeled after what’s used in the industry today and can provide more flexibility for students.

    UTI’s core programs follow this style, except for Welding, Collision Repair & Refinish Technology, and CNC Machining. These programs follow a hands-on learning model.
